For the first time last weekend, I orchestrated and carried out coverage of a festival. The Baton Rouge Blues Festival draws a crowd of about 12,000. The 2013 edition featured 10 artists, a stage of interviews with some of those, arts and crafts and food vendors. I covered the festival by taking photos (split into two galleries), compiling a Storify of social media reactions, writing several advance stories about what’s new this year and creating a video featuring the two headliners explaining their definitions of the blues.
(Later that day, I also covered LSU’s Groovin’ on the Grounds, so you can imagine I had quite a few photos to get through.)
